Parallel Wireless

U.S.-based Open RAN company building cloud-native, hardware-agnostic software and energy-efficient hardware that unifies 2G–5G networks for mobile operators worldwide.

Parallel Wireless is a U.S.-headquartered company working on Open RAN, the standards-based approach to radio access networks that lets mobile operators mix hardware and software from different suppliers. Its software spans 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G through a single cloud-native, software-defined architecture - an attempt to simplify networks that operators have historically had to run as separate generations, and to remove cost from each layer of the stack.

Two product lines carry most of this work. The ALL G cloud-native OpenRAN portfolio provides the unified multi-generation architecture and is reported to deliver total cost of ownership reductions of up to 60% in capital expenditure and 65% in operating expenditure. The GreenRAN™ portfolio pairs energy-efficient hardware with hardware-agnostic software and cloud-first automation, reflecting the company's stated focus on sustainability and network energy use.

Deployments reach six continents, with operator partnerships including MTN, Etisalat, BT EE, Tigo, Telefonica and Vodafone. The company works with mobile network operators in the telecommunications and wireless infrastructure sectors, and describes its mission in terms of extending 5G availability and bridging the digital divide. Engineering themes across the business include cloud-native software development, network automation and optimisation, and hardware-independent design.
