Tutored by Teachers

Tutored by Teachers is a public benefit company, founded in 2020, that provides personalised virtual instruction to high-need students in the United States. Its stated aim is to narrow the opportunity gap in education by pairing those students with highly qualified and diverse teachers. The company works with K-12 schools and districts as well as charter networks, delivering instruction through an online tutoring platform built around curriculum and skills-based teaching and standards-aligned assessment.

The network comprises more than 6,800 U.S.-credentialed teachers, who between them have delivered over 300,000 learning hours. Instruction is organised into small groups, with the same teacher working with the same students for the duration of a term. Reported outcomes include average growth of 20.9% in maths standards and 22.7% in English language arts standards.

Programmes span Virtual Intervention, Tutoring for All, Summer Academy, SAT Test Prep, EL Support for English learners, virtual Special Education services and Vacancy Support for schools short of teachers. The company is backed by EdTech investors GSV, A-Street Ventures and TMV, and operates across the United States.
