Nonprofit health and dental benefit provider serving federal employees, retirees and their families with medical, dental, Medicare Advantage and telehealth coverage.
Government Employees Health Association, Inc. (GEHA) is a nonprofit health and dental benefit provider that serves federal employees, retirees, military retirees and their families. Founded in 1937 as a mutual aid society established by postal employees, the association now covers more than 2 million lives nationwide and employs approximately 1,600 people. It is headquartered in Lee's Summit, Missouri.
GEHA's offerings span the main federal benefit programmes. These include Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) medical plans, Postal Service Health Benefits (PSHB) plans for postal workers, and FEDVIP dental plans, which carry no in-network deductibles or waiting periods. It also provides Medicare Advantage plans and telehealth services, giving members virtual access to care alongside a provider network that reaches millions of healthcare professionals across the United States. A Wellness Reward Program pays members between $500 and $1,000 a year in rewards.
As a member-built nonprofit, GEHA reinvests surplus into benefits and services rather than distributing it to shareholders. Community activity is channelled through the G.E.H.A Gives programme, which includes a Learn to Swim initiative reaching more than 5,000 students, and partnerships with the veteran support organisations Carry the Load, the Elizabeth Dole Foundation and Folds of Honor.
The organisation's technical domains include health insurance, dental benefits, telehealth, wellness programmes and healthcare provider networks. Its industry verticals cover health insurance, dental benefits, government employee benefits, the federal and postal workforces, and Medicare.
