Ballotpedia

Ballotpedia is a nonprofit digital encyclopedia providing neutral information on American politics, elections and public policy.

Ballotpedia is a digital encyclopedia of American politics and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2007. It publishes neutral, non-partisan information on federal, state and local politics, elections and public policy, and produces all of its content in-house through a professional staff of more than 50 writers and researchers. Headquartered in Middleton, Wisconsin, the organisation employs the majority of its team remotely across the United States.

The Ballotpedia Encyclopedia hosts 655,854 encyclopedic articles and has recorded more than 1.2 billion page views since the organisation was founded. Alongside the encyclopedia, Ballotpedia operates the Sample Ballot Lookup Tool, which shows voters the candidates and measures appearing on their ballots and serves approximately half of all American voters; the organisation says it has helped tens of millions of voters understand their ballots. Its other programmes include Candidate Connection, a candidate outreach effort, and Ballotpedia News, which covers elections and policy.

Technical work spans digital encyclopedia publishing, web platform and online content delivery, election data and analysis, and policy coverage. Tens of thousands of media outlets have referenced Ballotpedia's work. The organisation describes a firm commitment to neutrality and unbiased information as central to how it operates.
