The American Jewish Committee (AJC) is a global advocacy organization founded in 1906. It works with leaders worldwide to protect and support the Jewish people and Israel, counter antisemitism, and advance human rights and democratic values. Its approach is partnership-based, building trusted relationships with decision-makers in government, education, the private sector and Jewish communities, and equipping leaders and allies to act.
AJC operates from 40 offices and engages leaders in more than 110 countries across six continents. It maintains dozens of partnerships with Jewish communities worldwide. Its work spans global advocacy, international relations and foreign policy, government and public affairs, community relations and security, education and private-sector engagement.
The organisation is American in origin and headquartered in the United States, but its remit is international. It describes itself as mission-driven, oriented towards the well-being of the Jewish people and Israel and committed to human rights and democratic values. Over more than a century of operation it has focused on defending Jewish civil rights and, latterly, on coalition work across government, education, partner communities and business.
