Agility Robotics
Agility Robotics builds humanoid robots, including Digit, for industrial work and runs RoboFab, a humanoid robot factory in Salem, Oregon.
Agility Robotics, founded in 2015 as a spin-off from Oregon State University's Dynamic Robotics Lab, develops and manufactures humanoid robots intended to work alongside people in industrial settings. The company employs more than 200 staff and draws on expertise spanning humanoid robotics, bipedal locomotion, artificial intelligence, robotics simulation training and manufacturing automation. Its stated aim is to address labour shortages in physically demanding industries, with an emphasis on augmenting rather than replacing human workers.
Its flagship product, Digit, is a bipedal humanoid robot built for tasks requiring human-like flexibility and adaptation. According to the company, Digit is the first humanoid robot to be commercially deployed in warehouses, manufacturing facilities and distribution centres. Agility also operates RoboFab, described as the world's first full-scale factory for humanoid robots, in Salem, Oregon, with a peak production capacity of 10,000 robots a year.
Agility works across warehousing, manufacturing, distribution and logistics, automotive manufacturing, e-commerce fulfilment and third-party logistics. Its geographic footprint includes the Salem headquarters and factory, sites in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Fremont, California, and customer operations in Canada through Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada.
