The opportunity 

As Senior Manager, Cloud Engineering, you will lead the University’s cloud engineering capability—setting strategy, shaping technical direction, and driving continuous improvement across a complex, multi-cloud environment. 

This newly created role oversees automation, FinOps, and service integration, working with senior stakeholders to enable scalable, secure cloud adoption and support research, analytics, and AI initiatives. 

What you’ll do 

  • Define and deliver the cloud engineering strategy, roadmap, and architectural direction  

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team across automation, FinOps, and service integration 

  • Drive cloud automation and platform improvements using modern tooling and practices 

  • Partner with stakeholders to enable effective, secure, and scalable cloud adoption

  • Oversee cloud cost optimisation, performance visibility, and governance practices  

What we’re looking for 

  • Deep expertise across cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure) in large-scale environments  

  • Strong background in cloud architecture, automation, and Infrastructure as Code  

  • Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary technical teams

  • Ability to engage stakeholders and translate complex needs into practical solutions  

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability across technical and operational challenges
