Our Geo-Environmental team is nationally renowned for it’s expertise in Ground investigations, assessments, risk management and supporting safe and sustainable land development. Due to consistent growth in our existing projects and a strong pipeline of future works, we are looking for a Senior Associate Geo-Environmental Engineer to join our Adelaide team as we continue to grow. 

 

As a Senior Associate Geo-Environmental Engineer you’ll:

  • Deliver complex and challenging projects related to geo-environmental engineering, major urban infrastructure works, waste and contamination management, mining, hazardous dams, and other multidisciplinary engineering works.

  • Play a key role in the development of technical documents (reports, specifications, drawings) for key clients throughout various project execution phases (concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility, detailed design, construction, operation, and decommissioning).

  • Deliver best client outcomes/options which have saved the client costs/time.

  • Keep abreast of advancing technologies, methods, and research & development.

  • Monitor and manage the scope of multiple projects of varying complexity and size, including leading/delivering packages and managing environmental risks on design projects

  • Lead tenders, proposals, bids and pursuits collaborating closely with varied stakeholders

  • Successfully develop and maintain strong relationships and networks built around delivering high quality services to clients, in order to meet business and client outcomes.

  • Mentor junior team members and actively participate in knowledge sharing activities.

  • Manage and monitor the technical quality of work performed by the team and promote a culture of technical excellence within the team.

  • Conduct all work in a safe manner and comply with all role-specific HSE obligations.

  • Apply legislation, standards, guidelines, and project specifications.

  • Comply with WSP Quality System and Code of Ethics, coach on the identification and management of ethical issues associated with area of work or practice area.

 

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Geotechnical, or related)

  • Typically, 10+ years’ experience in Geo-environmental, Civil or Geotechnical engineering

  • Civil/environmental/geotechnical design experience, including subsurface environmental risk management, geosynthetics, embankments, earthworks, and surface water management.

  • Proven ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary projects, including scope, variations, and team coordination across hybrid environments.

  • Strong project management capabilities with a focus on balancing innovation, quality, technical excellence, and delivery to timelines and budget.

  • Demonstrated experience in client relationship management, business development, and guiding clients through regulatory processes.

  • Experience preparing and reviewing complex technical reports in line with Delegation of Authority (DOA).

  • High-level skills in applying safety in design practices and promoting a culture of safety, ethics, and risk management.

  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring, coaching, and developing junior and intermediate engineers, with a focus on knowledge transfer and capability building.

  • Advanced knowledge and application of Digital Engineering/BIM processes across a range of projects.

  • Self-aware, emotionally intelligent, and committed to continual professional development and role modelling professional behaviours.

  • Holds a current unrestricted driver’s licence valid for use in Australia.

  • Regularly identifies business opportunities through client-centric practices and constructive feedback.
