Do you want to be a Plant Mechanic in Ireland?

 

We are looking for an experienced Plant Mechanic to join our team in Ireland. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and diagnostics of heavy plant machinery and diesel‑powered equipment, ensuring maximum safety, performance, and reliability on site.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform routine servicing and repairs on plant and heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, ADTs, TLBs, etc.).
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults.
  • Carry out inspections and ensure full compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Perform component repairs including hydraulic cylinders, valve banks, pumps, and drive systems.
  • Complete accurate service documentation, job cards, and diagnostic reports.
  • Assist the operations team by responding quickly to breakdowns to minimise downtime.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and ensure machines are prepared for daily operation.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Trade qualification in Diesel Mechanics / Plant Mechanics (Red Seal or equivalent preferred).
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience working on plant, earthmoving, or heavy‑duty diesel equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Hydraulics (pumps, cylinders, valve banks)
    • Pneumatics (air brake systems)
    • Electrical systems (fault finding, wiring repairs)
  • Experience using diagnostic systems (Autel, Launch, OEM tools) is an advantage.
  • Ability to perform major repairs, including engine overhauls and component rebuilds.
  • Valid driving licence (CE/C1E licence preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and professional conduct.

Package & Remuneration

Salary dependent on experience.
