LOCATION: Haslet, TX
CONTEXT: Our client is seeking a skilled Plant Maintenance Technician with a strong background in welding and fabrication to join their team. This role is critical to ensuring plant operations remain safe, reliable, and efficient. You will be responsible for the upkeep of heavy industrial machinery, focusing on both structural integrity and mechanical performance to minimize downtime.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute a scheduled PM program, including greasing bearings, tensioning conveyor belts, and replacing worn liners in mixers.
- Design and build custom brackets, safety guards, or chutes as needed to improve plant safety or material flow.
- Use various hand and power tools (grinders, impact wrenches, etc.) to perform vibration or heat checks on motors and gearboxes to predict failures.
- Proficiently perform MIG, TIG, or Stick welding on various metals (carbon steel, aluminum, or alloys) in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
- Read and interpret technical schematics and blueprints to ensure repairs meet original manufacturer specifications.
- Track and report usage of welding gases, rods, and mechanical spare parts to ensure the maintenance shop remains fully stocked for emergencies.
- Provide rapid-response repair services during peak production hours to resolve "stuck gates" or broken belts and restore operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience in a ready-mix or heavy industrial environment is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in various welding techniques and metal fabrication.
- Strong basic mechanical troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose issues in complex systems like conveyors and mixers.
- Ability to read blueprints or technical manuals to guide repairs and structural modifications.
- A rigorous adherence to industrial safety standards and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to work in a heavy industrial environment, which may include exposure to dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
- Physical stamina to climb, crawl, and lift heavy components as required by the maintenance task.
- Manual dexterity for precise welding and tool handling.
