Job Summary:
We are seeking enthusiastic, experienced, and safety-conscious Mountain Bike Coaches to join our team for the upcoming biking season. MTB Coaches provide skill-based instruction to riders of all levels through private lessons, group clinics, camps, and youth programs. The ideal candidate is passionate about biking, enjoys working outdoors, and thrives in a guest-facing environment.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Instruct downhill mountain biking techniques to guests in group or private lessons, adapting to their skill levels and goals.
- Teach intro to advanced riding skills including braking, body positioning, cornering, terrain awareness, and line selection
- Deliver lessons and coaching in a positive, professional, and safety-focused manner
- Evaluate rider ability and adjust instruction to match learning style and goals
- Lead youth programs, group clinics, and multi-day camps as scheduled
- Uphold and promote bike park rules, trail etiquette, and risk management best practices
- Assist with trail checks, bike park opening/closing procedures, and general guest services
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, guests, and team members
- Stay up to date on terrain conditions and operational updates
- Act as an ambassador for Killington Resort, promoting a culture of inclusion, fun, and respect
QualificationsBasic Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must pass a background check
- Able to lift, carry, and transport bikes and related equipment (up to 50 lbs)
- Comfortable loading and unloading bikes from chairlifts or transport racks
- Capable of spending extended periods outdoors, on foot or on bike, in variable weather conditions
- Able to ride for long durations throughout the day
- Available to work weekends, holidays, and peak season periods
- First Aid/CPR certification (Wilderness First Aid preferred for youth coaching roles) preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Prior coaching or instructing experience, especially in a resort or camp setting
- Comfortable riding and teaching on green to black trails, including technical terrain
- PMBIA, BICP, or equivalent coaching certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Excellent communication and guest service skills
- Experience working with youth is a plus
- Strong riding skills in one or more MTB disciplines (downhill, enduro, trail, etc.)
