Job Title: Men’s Soccer Coach
Location: Macon Early College
Position Summary
The Men’s Soccer Coach is responsible for leading and developing a competitive, education-based soccer program that supports the academic and personal growth of student-athletes. The coach will emphasize skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and accountability while ensuring compliance with all school, district, and state athletic regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership
- Plan, organize, and supervise all practices, games, and team activities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive soccer program aligned with the school’s mission
- Instruct student-athletes in fundamental and advanced soccer skills, tactics, and conditioning
Student-Athlete Development
- Promote academic success and monitor eligibility of all players
- Foster leadership, discipline, respect, and teamwork
- Create a positive, safe, and inclusive team environment
Game & Practice Management
- Design and execute effective practice plans and seasonal schedules
- Prepare the team for competition through scouting and game strategy
- Supervise athletes during practices, competitions, and team travel
Compliance & Administration
- Adhere to all district, conference, and state athletic association policies
- Maintain accurate records (rosters, statistics, equipment inventory, etc.)
- Communicate regularly with administration, parents, and student-athletes
Program Support
- Manage equipment and uniform distribution/collection
- Support fundraising efforts and promote the soccer program
- Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development
Qualifications
- Previous soccer coaching or playing experience preferred
- Knowledge of soccer rules, techniques, and game strategies
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to effectively mentor high school/early college student-athletes
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Must meet all district and state coaching requirements
Working Conditions
- Availability for after-school practices, games, and occasional weekends
- Travel required for away competitions
- Ability to demonstrate soccer skills and actively participate in practices
