Architectural Glass Products (AGP) is a state-of-the-art glass manufacturing business focused on supplying high-quality products with exceptional service to its customers. AGP operates out of a custom-built world-class facility in Cambridge, just 15 minutes from Hamilton, providing Insulated Glass Units to its client base. AGP is part of the wider APL Group, the market leader of window and doors systems in New Zealand.
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our manufacturing team and help drive equipment reliability and operational excellence in the production of Insulated Glass Units (IGUs).
This role focuses on ensuring plant and equipment are safe, reliable, and well maintained, while supporting a proactive maintenance culture and continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out diagnostic testing and root-cause analysis to identify the underlying cause of machine failure
- Drive a proactive maintenance approach to improve reliability and reduce downtime
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues for automated manufacturing equipment
- Overhaul and rebuild machinery, refurbishing worn parts back to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) standards
- Support planned and preventative maintenance programmes to reduce breakdowns
- Perform precision alignment to keep manufacturing machines operating at peak performance.
- Undertake basic fabrication including TIG/MIG/Stick welding, soldering, and brazing to modify parts or create custom brackets
- Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment
- Work closely with operators and supervisors to improve equipment performance
- Analyse equipment performance and implement root cause solutions
- Ensure all health, safety, and PPE requirements are followed
About You
- Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar trade/technical field
- 5+ years’ experience working with automated manufacturing equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
- Experience reading technical drawings and schematics
- Knowledge of AC/DC drives, welding, and industrial machinery
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment
