Perform a wide range of maintenance and repair work to support the safety, functionality, and overall quality of our communities. Responsibilities include carpentry, flooring, electrical and plumbing repairs, painting, appliance maintenance, sheetrock repair, and general patching. Maintain building systems and grounds through routine upkeep, unit inspections, snow removal, and support for construction projects. Assist with room setups for community events, ensuring spaces are safe, welcoming, and resident-ready.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Execute preventive maintenance and routine engineering checks in all mechanical and boiler rooms; maintain logs, work orders, and other required documentation, including but not limited to RealPage Facilities software

  • Prepare vacant apartments for new residents and refresh apartment units as needed

  • Perform unit inspections to ensure building/unit integrity, safety, and compliance with inspection mandates

  • Carry out routine engineering checks in all mechanical and boiler rooms 

  • Document time in/time out or other tracking system functions on all work orders

  • Perform grounds maintenance duties, such as mowing, weeding, snow and ice removal

  • Must be available to respond when assigned to evening, weekend, and holiday emergency coverage for emergency mechanical/technical services.(Rotating responsibility with other team members)

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Two years of hands-on experience with post-secondary technical training preferred

  • Knowledge of building trades, mechanics, and building maintenance

  • Hoisting License preferred

  • Fluent in English  

  • Skilled in the use of mobile devices, computers, and computerized systems

  • Valid Massachusetts driver's license required. 

  • Must be able to operate hand and power tools safely

 

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Frequent standing and walking

  • Ability to frequently lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to operate a Bobcat

  • Ability to work outdoors in winter conditions
