Lifeguards are responsible for the safety of the club members and guests while using the pool facilities. Our outdoor pool features stunning views of the Willamette River, and we are seeking personable, dedicated, and dynamic individuals to assist us in running our busy summer aquatics operation. This seasonal position is perfect for applicants looking for a fun and fast-paced seasonal position starting in Mid-May and works through the end of the September. Candidates must be available to work evenings, weekends and willing to work flexible hours.
The starting pay rate is $17.00/hr. What you will do
• Complies with company policies and procedures as established in the Employee Handbook and Pool Department Operations Manual.
• Greets pool members and guests. Monitors pool activities to ensure pool rules are being followed.
• Maintains constant surveillance of all pool patrons (adults and children) in the facility. In the event of an emergency, acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of all patrons. Aid is to be provided until professional medical services arrive.
• Communicates with rotating lifeguard to ensure all possible safety hazards/risks are made apparent.
• Attends all staff meetings/training.
• Assists in the cleanliness and general appearance of the pool area.
• Performs regular pool chemical and temperature checks.
• Always has a head count of patrons in the pool and surrounding area by using appropriate scanning methods.
• Maintains safety tools such as rescue tubes.
• Facilitates the rentals of the kayaks and stand up paddle boards (SUPS).
• Commitment to recognize and acknowledge members by name.
• Wears appropriate uniform on all Club property.
• Arranges and cleans pool furniture and canopies as needed. Sets up for special events when requested.
• Assists with the pool locker room duties, particularly with regards to towels and general cleanliness of the pool area and pool locker rooms. Stocks clean towels in receptacles at all times; notify Pool Supervisor if towel supply is low.
• Complies with all OSHA standards.
Minimum Requirements for Position:
• Energetic and creative demeanor. Passion for teaching children in a positive, caring manner.
• Ability to teach stroke technique to students of varying levels and ages.
• Must be 16 years old.
• Hold a current American Red Cross lifeguard certification and First Aid/CPR certifications.
• WSI or equivalent experience preferred.
• Applicant must pass company pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Physical Requirements:
• The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30-40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
