    TITLE: Head Coach- JH Football

    STIPEND: $2600

    GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
    The Classical Academy is seeking a committed and dynamic Head Junior High Football Coach to lead our 7th and 8th grade football program. The head coach will be responsible for building a positive team culture, developing fundamental skills, and preparing student-athletes for success at the high school level. This role requires strong leadership, organization, and a passion for mentoring middle school students. The season takes place August-September.

    ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
    Reports to the Activities Director

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

    • Plan, organize, and conduct effective daily practices
    • Develop and implement offensive, defensive, and special teams strategies appropriate for junior high athletes
    • Supervise and support assistant and volunteer coaches
    • Foster a culture of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship
    • Monitor and support student-athlete academic progress and behavior
    • Communicate clearly and consistently with players, parents, staff, and administration
    • Coordinate game scheduling, equipment needs, and team logistics
    • Ensure compliance with school, district, and athletic association policies
    • Promote player safety and proper technique at all times

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION:
    High school diploma or GED equivalent required
    Undergraduate degree preferred

    EXPERIENCE:
    Previous football coaching experience required (head coaching experience preferred)

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Strong knowledge of football fundamentals, rules, and player development
    • Demonstrated leadership and program management skills
    • Ability to build relationships with students, families, and staff
    • Commitment to creating a positive and inclusive team environment
    • Must pass required background checks and clearances

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • Work is generally performed in the practice area and/or event area
    • Work hours may vary depending on the needs of the activities office and practice needs, and may include days, evenings, and weekends

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with this position. They are included for informational purposes and are not all inclusive.

    • Typical demands require the employee to:
      • Spend majority of work time standing and walking while performing job duties
      • Frequently lift burdens weighing up to 30 lbs. and occasionally push/pull burdens weighing up to 100 lbs.
      • Frequently use eye, hand, and finger coordination to enable the use of athletic equipment, other equipment, and writing utensils

     BENEFITS: PERA defined benefit contribution retirement plan included. This position is stipend-based and therefore does not include benefits other than paid sick leave as outlined by the Healthy Families Healthy Workplace Act.
