Head Middle School Boys Wrestling Coach

Job Summary
Big Piney Middle School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our middle school boys wrestling program as the Head Coach. This seasonal position requires an enthusiastic leader who can inspire and develop young athletes. This person will develop and implement training programs, mentor young athletes, and promote a positive and competitive team environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for wrestling, a strong understanding of wrestling techniques, effective coaching strategies, and a commitment to fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth among student-athletes.

CREDENTIALS:  RELEVANT WY PTSB COACHING CERTIFICATE. WE CAN HELP GUIDE THE RIGHT CANDIDATE THROUGH THE PROCESS. 

PTSB Certification requires a HS Diploma or GED and applying to WY PTSB. PTSB and the District will need proof of current In-Person 1st Aid/CPR Training within about a month of your application. Coaching courses required later. PTSB takes around 8-12 weeks to process a complete application. Payment is made at the end of the season, after proper check-out, FOR THE DAYS THE COACH WAS CERTIFIED. The successful candidate will Not be paid for the days they worked and were Not certified or didn’t meet requirements. The season lasts from mid-October to mid-December. 

The current pay ranges from $2,500 - $4,000 depending on assignment and relevant experience.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive wrestling program for middle school boys, focusing on skill development, conditioning, and competition readiness.
- Plan and conduct daily practices, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for all participants.
- Organize and oversee all aspects of the wrestling season, including scheduling practices, matches, and tournaments.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to student-athletes, promoting academic success and personal development alongside athletic achievement.
- Collaborate with school administration, athletic department, and parents to communicate program goals, schedules, and expectations.
- Monitor and assess the progress of each athlete, providing constructive feedback and support for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and policies related to wrestling and student-athlete participation.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Attend coaching clinics and professional development opportunities to stay current with wrestling trends and coaching techniques.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, performance, and other relevant data throughout the season.

- Communicate regularly with parents, providing updates on team activities, schedules, and athlete performance.

- Adhere to all school, district, and state athletic policies and regulations.

Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent required for state certification.
- Previous coaching experience, preferably in wrestling or a related sport, at the middle school or high school level is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of wrestling techniques, strategies, and rules is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
- Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and school staff in a collaborative environment.

- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by practice and competition schedules.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning practices and events.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the start of the season).

- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Ability to pass a background check as required by school district policy.
- A passion for youth sports and a commitment to the well-being and development of student-athletes.
