DescriptionTo organize, supervise, instruct and coach in their assigned coaching area.
Athletic Duties
- Conduct themselves in an ethical manner.
- Present themselves as a positive role model.
- Organize and conduct well-planned practice sessions.
- Assume supervisory role over all phases of the team’s program.
- Adhere to budget policies and procedures.
- Emphasize safety precautions and be aware of best training and injury procedures.
- Make recommendations to the Athletic Director in matters of scheduling.
- Attend and make contributions at Coaches’ Meetings.
- Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms, as need demands.
- Promote that sport by prompt accurate score reporting to local media.
- Assume and take responsibility for constant care of equipment, facilities and uniforms being used.
- Arrange for the issuance of letters and special awards.
- Instruct athletes concerning rules, techniques, strategies and sportsmanship of the sport.
- Implement and enforce all policies and rules established by Athletic Department and Saint Edwards School.
QualificationsPreferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in related field
- Prior experience coaching in assigned sport.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Works in a highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
- Work in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials weighing 20 to 50 pounds
