JOB DESCRIPTION
COACH
JOB GOAL: The Athletic Coach is responsible for organizing, supervising, and instructing student-athletes in the assigned sport while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, skill development, and character. The coach supports the district’s educational mission by providing a safe and positive athletic experience for all participants.
Reports to: Athletic Director, Principal or Assistant Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and conduct practices, training sessions, and competitions.
- Teach sport-specific skills, rules, and strategies.
- Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, and responsible behavior among student-athletes.
- Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and related activities.
- Ensure compliance with district policies and rules established by the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA).
- Monitor student-athlete academic eligibility and encourage academic success.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, school staff, and administration.
- Maintain equipment, uniforms, and program records.
- Model professionalism and positive conduct consistent with district expectations.
