We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established, proudly South African engineering group based in Spartan, Gauteng. Our client has been operating for over 35 years and is a recognised leader in full turnkey electrical, control and instrumentation (EC&I) solutions. Their offering spans consultation, project engineering, manufacturing, system integration, site installations, and the distribution of switchgear, automation products, drives and instrumentation — serving clients across South Africa and into Africa. They are ISO 9001:2015 certified and have a strong, growing market presence.

This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and technically grounded sales professional to join a reputable business at the forefront of the EC&I industry. You will be responsible for growing the client base, converting leads, and representing the company's product and service offering in the market — with a particular focus on drives and motors.

  • Actively prospecting and cold calling to identify and develop new business opportunities across the instrumentation and control sector.
  • Meeting with existing and prospective customers to present the company's full EC&I product and solutions offering.
  • Converting leads and prospects into clients through strong relationship-building and consultative selling.
  • Cross-selling and upselling across the product range to maximise revenue from each account.
  • Identifying new market opportunities and staying ahead of industry trends and competitor activity.
  • Representing the company at trade expos, industry events, and client-facing engagements.
  • Maintaining a strong market presence and building lasting relationships with key decision-makers.
  • Reporting on pipeline activity, sales performance, and market feedback.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in external sales within the electrical engineering, instrumentation, or control industry — essential.
  • Solid technical knowledge of low and medium voltage switchgear — essential.
  • Experience selling Zest drives and motors, with established market knowledge and existing relationships in this space — strongly preferred.
  • Confident and professional verbal communicator with strong email etiquette and written communication skills.
  • Proven track record of high customer conversion rates and opportunity spotting.
  • Technologically literate, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP systems.
  • A natural team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Self-motivated and target-driven, with the ability to work independently in the field.
