Job Description: The Emergency Medical Technician-PCP is responsible for responding to emergency and non-emergent calls for service, provide initial assessment, treatment and transport of ill or injured persons. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Education

  • Primary Care Paramedic Certificate from an approved educational institute

Licenses

  • Valid Class 4 driver's license
  • International Trauma Life Support Certificate (ITLS)

Other Education and Training

  • Current Basic Life Support-Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation(BLS-CPR) certification

  • Physically able to perform the duties of pre-hospital emergency care

  • Familiar with the SK Ministry of Health Ambulance Information System.
  • Conflict resolution skills to effectively handle difficult issues
  • Ability to operate emergency vehicles safely and effectively
  • Demonstrates the ability to be resourceful and to adapt to changing conditions

  • Able to safely and consistently lift/load stretcher on a regular basis

Other Information

  • Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics at PCP/EMT level
  • Scheduled hours of work may be reduced during the rotation stipulated when a statutory holiday is recognized during that period.
