Are you ready to lead meaningful outdoor experiences that challenge and inspire teens? The Adventure Trip Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and leading three offsite wilderness trips per season, each a 4-day canoeing experience on the Buffalo River in Arkansas. This role works closely with the two CLP Coordinators to supervise and support 16 CLP teen campers (ages 15–16) throughout each trip.


The Adventure Trip Coordinator manages all logistics—gear and food packing, campsite setup, transportation, and outfitter communication—while ensuring a safe, mission driven experience that promotes growth in spirit, mind, and body. During non-trip weeks, the Trip Coordinator will assist with general program duties as assigned.


Responsibilities

• Leads three 4-day canoeing trips on the Buffalo River for CLP campers.

• Works alongside CLP Coordinators to supervise 16 teen participants.

• Ensures camper safety, health, and inclusion in wilderness settings.

• Manages trip logistics including gear, food, campsite setup, and transportation.

• Coordinates with outfitters and follows all YMCA safety procedures.

• Teaches outdoor living skills and models positive character development.

• Assists with program duties during non-trip weeks.

• Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age with a clean driving record.

• High school graduate or equivalent; some college or camp experience preferred.

• CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications (training provided if needed).

• Experience working with youth in outdoor or adventure settings.

• Ability to maintain professionalism and emotional regulation in fast paced environments.

• Demonstrates YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.


Essential Functions

• Provides active supervision and always maintains safety standards.

• Follows emergency procedures and risk management protocols.

• Creates a positive, inclusive environment for all participants.

• Works flexible hours in a rustic outdoor setting.


Compensation and Amenities

• Starting salary: $800 per week

• Room and board provided

• Camp shirts provided

• All training and certification costs covered

• Free laundry facilities


Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Ability to lead and participate in outdoor activities in varying weather conditions.

• Extended time spent offsite in wilderness environments.

• May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
