General Statement of Responsibilities: To provide instruction support for targeted kindergarten - fifth grade students who have been identified as in need of intensive intervention in Reading and/or Math.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of materials or skills originally introduced by the teacher
- Collaborates with the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests and abilities
- Alerts the teacher to any problems or special information about individual students. Maintains the same level of ethical behavior and confidentiality about students as is expected by certified students.
- Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom. Assists with monitoring of students as assigned by the Learning Adventure Camp coordinator or school administrator.
- Supervises students during arrival and departure (unloading and loading buses) and during breakfast and lunch.
Qualifications:
Paraprofessional currently working in the Reading Intervention Program
Must attend explicit Phonics instruction training prior to working in the Learning Adventure Camp.
Paraprofessional Description:
- Assist the teacher in supporting student learning and classroom activities.
- Work with individual students or small groups under the direction of the teacher.
- Support student engagement, behavior, and participation during lessons and activities.
- Assist with classroom preparation, organization, and clean-up.
- Supervise students during transitions, arrival, dismissal, and other assigned times.
- Assist with attendance, materials, and other classroom tasks as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student and staff information.
- Communicate professionally with staff, students, and families when appropriate.
- Perform other duties related to the summer school program as assigned.
Schedule:
- Paraprofessional Dates: May 28th - June 25th
- Schedule: 16 days (80 hours total)

Compensation:
- Paraprofessional Hourly Rate: $17.65
