World Education Services

World Education Services is a non-profit social enterprise that evaluates international academic credentials as U.S. and Canadian equivalents for immigrants, refugees, and students.

World Education Services (WES) is a non-profit social enterprise founded in 1974 that evaluates international academic credentials and translates them into their U.S. and Canadian equivalents. Its evaluations are used to support admission to higher education, professional licensing, and employment for immigrants, refugees, and international students. Over five decades the organisation has completed more than 4 million evaluations.

Alongside its core credential evaluation services, WES runs the WES Gateway Program, which helps refugees have their academic credentials recognised in their new countries, and manages the Mariam Assefa Fund, which supports initiatives aimed at immigrant inclusion. The organisation also conducts public policy research and advocacy concerning the recognition of international education and qualifications.

WES works with academic institutions, employers, licensing bodies and government agencies across the United States and Canada. Its stated focus is on the educational, economic and social inclusion of people with international education and experience, pursued through evaluation services, social-impact programming, philanthropy and policy work.
