SoFi

SoFi is a US fintech and national bank offering a digital platform for lending, banking, investing and cryptocurrency services to over 15.8 million members.

SoFi (Social Finance) is a digital financial services company and national bank in the United States, founded in 2011 by four Stanford Graduate School of Business students - Mike Cagney, Dan Macklin, James Finnigan and Ian Brady. It operates an all-in-one platform serving over 15.8 million members, with an emphasis on fairness, transparency and accessibility in financial products, and on customers underserved by traditional banks.

The company began with a peer-to-peer student loan refinancing product, using data science and risk assessment modelling to undercut traditional lenders on interest rates. That lending foundation has since been extended into personal loans, mortgages and credit cards, alongside digital banking, investing and cryptocurrency services. Engineering work spans risk assessment modelling, data science, mobile-first technology and the digital banking platform underpinning the product suite.

SoFi is headquartered in the United States and operates across the financial services, banking, lending and investing verticals. Its stated aim is to help members achieve financial independence, with a stated focus on getting their money right.
