Rivian

American manufacturer of electric trucks, SUVs and vans, with software-defined vehicles, battery technology and its own charging network.

Rivian is an American electric vehicle manufacturer that builds emission-free Electric Adventure Vehicles - trucks, SUVs, and vans - designed to help people explore more of the world. The vehicles are conceived as software-defined platforms: they can evolve over time through over-the-air updates, much as a phone does, with technology intended to make driving safer, easier and more enjoyable. The company also operates its own network of charging stations as part of its running infrastructure.

The technical work spans several domains: software-defined vehicle design, over-the-air software, battery technology, battery recycling and second-life applications, sustainable materials engineering, electric vehicle manufacturing and charging infrastructure. Battery packs are designed to be removed at end of life for recycling or reuse, reflecting a lifecycle approach to product design.

Sustainability commitments are stated plainly. Rivian has signed the Climate Pledge to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040, ten years ahead of the Paris Agreement, and its interiors use 100% animal-free materials. The stated mission is to "keep the world adventurous forever", and the brand is positioned around adventure-focused capability and experience. Operations are in the United States, across the electric vehicles, sustainable transportation, charging infrastructure and battery recycling sectors.
