Qdrant
Qdrant develops an open-source, Rust-based vector database and a managed cloud service for search, recommendations and RAG at billions-of-vectors scale.
Qdrant builds a vector database, written in Rust, designed to handle search, recommendation and retrieval-augmented generation workloads by processing billions of vectors at scale. The open-source engine has been downloaded more than 10 million times and counts some 23,000 GitHub stars. Qdrant Cloud, a managed offering, sits alongside it, letting developers stand up production vector search quickly.
Founded in 2021 by André Zayarni and Andrey Vasnetsov, the company employs more than 75 people across over 20 countries in a distributed, remote arrangement. Engineering work spans vector and semantic search, multi-modal retrieval, high-dimensional data processing, AI agents and Rust systems programming, together with the open-source project and the managed cloud infrastructure around it.
Customers include HubSpot, Bayer, Bosch and CB Insights, with deployments in e-commerce, healthcare, enterprise software and AI/ML infrastructure. The company states its aim as building the most scalable vector search engine for AI applications.
