Matomo

Matomo is a fully remote team behind an open-source web analytics platform offering full data ownership and privacy protection, used on over 1.4 million websites in 190 countries.

Matomo is a fully remote team that builds the leading open-source web analytics platform. Founded in 2007, the company develops software that gives organisations full ownership of their web data and protects the privacy of the people behind it, positioning the product as an ethical alternative to Google Analytics. The platform is used on more than 1.4 million websites across 190 countries, by customers ranging from small businesses to the United Nations and Amnesty International.

The product, also called Matomo, is available either as a cloud-hosted service or self-hosted on a customer's own servers. Its design principles are straightforward: no data sampling, no data sharing and no third-party access to the underlying data. Because the software is open source, anyone can inspect, modify and contribute to the code. The work spans web analytics, data privacy, open-source development and both cloud and self-hosted deployment.

Team members are distributed across New Zealand, Germany, France and elsewhere. The company states core values of openness, transparency and "doing the right thing", and describes its mission as championing user privacy and data ownership over data exploitation.
