EchoMark

EchoMark provides AI-powered forensic watermarking that embeds invisible, personalised marks in documents, emails and images to trace the sources of information leaks.

EchoMark, founded in 2022, develops AI-powered forensic watermarking technology. Its system embeds invisible, personalised watermarks in documents, emails and images for each recipient, so that when information leaks the precise source can be identified. The approach is designed to deter leaks from trusted employees without disrupting the flow of information within an organisation.

The company's patent-pending product applies techniques drawn from steganography, AI and document and image forensics to the problems of data security and insider threat detection. It is used across six industries: government, financial services, legal, healthcare, gaming and manufacturing.

EchoMark was named a 2024 Gartner Cool Vendor in Data Security, and its platform won Insider Threat Detection Platform of the Year at the 2025 Cybersecurity Breakthrough Awards. The company was founded by Troy Batterberry, who has more than 30 years of technology industry experience, including roles at Sony, the U.S. Department of Defense and Microsoft.

The firm describes its mission in terms of fostering trust, accountability and better stewardship of private information, with a security-first approach to both accidental and intentional leaks.
