How You’ll Contribute

As a Unit Secretary, you will provide essential administrative and clerical support while contributing to patient care activities in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting scheduling, admissions, medical records, and discharge planning 
  • Performing clerical and administrative functions for the department 
  • Assisting with limited patient-related activities across multiple age groups: 
    • Adolescent (12–18) 
    • Adult (18–65) 
    • Geriatric (65+) 
    • Occasionally Neonate/Infant (birth–1 year) and Pediatric (1–12) 
  • Delivering excellent customer service in a multi-skilled environment

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited program 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision 
  • Strong judgment and proactive problem-solving skills 

 

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrate knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures 
  • Greet and escort patients, families, and visitors 
  • Follow patient safety protocols, including fall, seizure, and restraint precautions 
  • Assist with patient transport while adhering to safety standards 
  • Support discharge planning through coordination and communication with external agencies 
  • Schedule admissions, create reservations, and assign beds as needed 
  • Respond to call lights and triage patient requests appropriately 
  • Assist staff and CNAs as directed 
  • Perform guest relations tasks, including: 
    • Arranging guest trays 
    • Securing patient valuables 
    • Providing consent forms 
    • Coordinating family accommodations
