Responsibilities<\/span><\/b><\/span>

  • Provide advanced assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with acute and chronic cardiorespiratory and medical conditions.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Lead and manage complex caseloads, demonstrating high\-level clinical reasoning and evidence\-based practice.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Deliver respiratory care including airway clearance techniques, ventilatory support, oxygen therapy, and early mobilisation.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Act as a clinical leader within the physiotherapy team, supporting junior staff, students, and assistants through supervision and mentorship.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) planning, discharge planning, and goal setting to ensure optimal patient outcomes.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Participate in service development, audit, quality improvement initiatives, and implementation of best practice guidelines.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Manage clinical risk and ensure compliance with infection prevention, health and safety, and professional standards.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Support education and training programmes for staff and students within the clinical area.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and outcome measures in line with hospital policy.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Engage in continuous professional development (CPD), research, and innovation in cardiorespiratory physiotherapy practice.<\/span>

    Requirements<\/h3>
  • Hold a BSc in Physiotherapy or an equivalent recognised qualification.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Be registered with CORU or in the process of obtaining CORU registration.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Be a member of, or eligible for membership of, the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP).<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Have a minimum of three years’ satisfactory post\-qualification clinical experience, including experience with an acute general medical and cardiorespiratory patient population.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Possess at least one year of post\-graduate experience in an acute hospital setting.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Demonstrate strong clinical knowledge and the ability to apply evidence\-based practice in fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of the role.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Actively participate as a member of the multidisciplinary team in the delivery of patient care.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Collaborate with the Physiotherapy Manager to support the coordination, development, and delivery of a high\-quality, patient\-centred physiotherapy service.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with healthcare professionals, patients, families, and carers.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Show a clear commitment to ongoing continuing professional development.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Maintain and adhere to guidelines and protocols relevant to the hospital Physiotherapy Service.<\/span>
