Core Responsibilities
- Installation & Repair: Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures (toilets, sinks, water heaters) according to specifications.
- Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on residential plumbing systems.
- System Upkeep: Clear obstructions, clean drain pipes, and repair broken water mains or sewer lines.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to municipal plumbing codes and safety regulations, including Chicago plumbing contractor licensing requirements.
- Documentation: Utilize work order systems to document repairs, maintenance, and material usage.
Requirements & Qualifications
- License/Certification: Typically requires a valid Journey-level plumber license for city positions.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in working with various materials (PVC, PEX, Copper, Iron) and tools.
- Experience: Often requires 3+ years of experience in residential or service plumbing.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift over 50 pounds, climb, and work in tight or dangerous environments.
