Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer Specialist. This is a hybrid role that will be located in Peachtree City, GA.

 

As a Mechanical Engineering Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping Eaton’s future by collaborating closely with our Business Development Manager to create cutting-edge products for emerging technologies and high-growth markets. This position is at the heart of Eaton’s strategic initiatives, focusing on product research and development for wiring devices across key sectors such as data centers, healthcare, education, and commercial/residential buildings. In this dynamic role, you will lead innovation from concept to full-scale production, working with global engineering teams, suppliers, and manufacturing sites. You will have the opportunity to engage with customers and commercial teams to define technical requirements, identify gaps in current offerings, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $113000 - $165000 a year.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the disciplined use of PROLaunch (phase-gate NPD process) to ensure timely and cost-effective product development and introduction.  Drives accountability and execution of results to target dates and ensures attainment of project goals (design features/functions, mfg. cost, capital investment, regulatory compliance, safety, schedule, plus other aspects).
  • Conduct visits to key customers along with business development manager to understand product & application needs, develop relationships and act as key technical lead.
  • Develop and execute the new product development specifications to meet customer application needs and standards.
  • Design validates and release system, sub-system and components independently as well as through team of engineers. Creates CAD drawings- detailing, 3D models, Assemblies etc. (Creo preferred) and ensure release in PLM / ERP system per project plan.
  • Evaluates multiple concepts through prototype testing. Owns development of test plans in accordance with applicable product standards. Develop test requirements, plans for assembly and test instruments. Responsible for ensuring deployment of standard practices, assessing test results, root cause analysis of failures and taking corrective actions.
  • Partner closely with the operations and manufacturing functions to ensure products meet quality and performance requirements, cost targets, DFMA requirements, along with tooling investments and meeting productivity goals. 
  • Responsible for ensuring that all products meet applicable national and international regulatory agency codes and standards. 
  • Show a global perspective and cultural awareness to interact with colleagues across geographies and functions and take an inclusive approach to drive alignment.
  • Effectively communicate programs to peers and leadership.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Electrical product design.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Mechanical Engineering degree from an accredited institution
  • DFSS Certification

Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of plastic part design, sheet metal part design and working process knowledge of thermal/stress analysis, and innovative use of alternative materials. 
  • Ability to think strategically and to participate in all levels of project details and technical engineering concepts, solid problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with international suppliers and/or customers. 
  • Experience working with remote engineering resources.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% with Business teams.
  • Ability to work on green field projects and independently operate in emerging technology areas.
  • Develop and track effective engineering metrics to drive projects to successful completion. 
  • Works closely with manufacturing locations to coordinate successful product launches while meeting project schedules. 
  • Partner with remote engineering teams to accelerate engineering development.
