Designs and analyzes mechanical systems, equipment and packages in accordance with design criteria and performance objectives.
Work with a team of highly qualified engineers to generate the overall design concept for the mechanical system as well as the detailed design of the mechanical components which include plastic parts, metal parts, sheet metal stampings, castings, rubber and elastomers.
Apply solid engineering knowledge in product development to meet strict product specifications.
Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication.
Work with project team on design proposals, cost estimates and schedules to meet completion dates and technical specifications.
Conduct functional, performance and environmental tests for new designs or modified existing designs.
Responsible for cost effective design decisions.
Maintain current knowledge regarding new developments and trends in applicable engineering field.
Finish other related duties on time as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
A bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
At least 8years design experience in product development to attain this level.
Experience and knowledge in injection molding/casting/sheet metal tools are required.
Proficiency in mechanical design tools such as Pro/E. Knowledge of Pro/E modeling by incorporating design intent is required. (Including entities, sheet metal…)
At all stages of product development, apply statistical tools to support design selection and optimization, fault prediction, problem solving, root cause analysis, and verification. Good report-writing and analytical skills, able to prepare professional analysis reports.
Knowledge in manufacturing process and quality control methods for regular mechanical parts, familiar with the physical properties of common materials.
Strong sense of ownership and responsibility, ensuring timely and reliable delivery.
Experience in designing infrared thermal imager or other industrial instrument is preferred.
Extensive hands-on product development experience, from conceptualization to prototyping, test and verification, and manufacturing at pilot and mass production levels.
Critical thinking and strong technical fundamentals are required to make an effective technical decision. Thoroughly considers and reinforces quality in making decisions.
Desired:
Experience and skill set in optical design will be an advantage.
Knowledge of IEC61010 standard will be an advantage.
Fluent communication in English is a plus.
Added advantage if familiar with the theory and application of DFMEA and have practical experience in implementing DFMEA in NPI projects.
