Description

This position is contingent upon successful contract award. 


Instructors will deliver tactical training to Active and Reserve component naval and expeditionary personnel.  Instructors will assist with training evolutions, curriculum development, and assessment. This role is focused on providing high-risk instructional support in small arms, crew-served weapons, and maritime security tactics. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in naval coastal warfare or special operations and a proven track record of maintaining the highest safety standards in dynamic live-fire environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Instructional Delivery: Lead classroom and practical field training for small arms (M9/M18, M4/M16, M500) and crew-served weapons. Deliver classroom and field instruction in accordance with approve curricula and instructions. 
  • Range Management: Serve as a Range Safety Officer (RSO), overseeing static and dynamic live-fire ranges to ensure 100% compliance with safety protocols. Prepare training areas including weapons loading, target placement, and equipment set up. 
  • Certification Maintenance: Complete and maintain Core Unique Instructor Training      (CUIT) and the Instructor Certification and Qualification Program (ICQP).
  • Administrative Proficency: Utilize Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to manage course rosters, student performance records, and training materials. Maintain training binders and course material. Complete and maintain required Personnel Qualification Standards (PQS) for each watch station. 
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce all Navy policies governing high-risk training environments and maintain current CPR/AED/First Aid certifications.
Requirements

Required Qualifications & Experience

Military & Tactical Background

  • Honorable Discharge: Must provide documentation of active-duty service with a favorable reenlistment code (DD-214).
  • Specialized Experience: Prior experience in at least one of the following: USN Naval Coastal Warfare, Maritime Expeditionary Security, Riverine, Coast Riverine, or Special Operations.
  • Instructional Tenure: Minimum of one (1) year of documented instructional experience.
  • Tactical Training: Graduates of recognized shooting institutes (e.g., Blackwater, Mid-South, Gryphon, SFAUC, MCAUC) are highly preferred.

Certifications & Training

  • Instructor Credentials: Graduate of a certified Navy Instructor Training Course (NEC 805A/9502, 9501, or 9518) or a civilian equivalent (JIT/NITC).
  • Range Safety: Must be a qualified RSO or possess a civilian industry-standard equivalent for small arms and crew-served weapons.
  • Medical: Current certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid.

Weapons Proficiency

  • Recent Qualifications: Must have qualified within the last three years on:
    • M9/M18 Pistol (or replacement)
    • M4/M16 Rifle (or variants)
    • M500 Shotgun
  • Advanced Systems: Must be capable of qualifying on the M240 Machine Gun, M2HB .50 cal Machine Gun, and M203      Grenade Launcher.

 Additional Skills & Competencies

  • Communication: Exceptional English writing and public speaking skills; able to convey complex tactical concepts clearly.
  • Maintenance of Proficiency: Pass all recurring knowledge and performance tests related to assigned courses and maintain      personal weapons qualifications.
  • Physical Readiness: Must be able to perform in high-stress, high-risk environments and pass required high-risk medical      screenings.
  • Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
