The City of Jefferson is now accepting applications for Lifeguards for the Parks and Recreation Department. This seasonal position works at Memorial Park Family Aquatic Center and/or Ellis-Porter Riverside Pool.
Identify potential pool hazards.
Be alert and prevent accidents.
Enforce all pool rules in a consistent manor.
Handle discipline situations with courtesy and fairness.
Respond quickly, intelligently, decisively, and in accordance with Parks and Recreation emergency and accident management procedures.
Administer first aid and CPR if required.
Communicate with other lifeguards and supervisors.
Facilitate public relations with a positive and professional attitude, courtesy and tact.
Provide a healthy and sanitary facility through the continual cleaning of the facility.
Carry out additional duties assigned by supervisors.
Assist with teaching classes in a manner prescribed by the Jefferson City Parks and Recreation.
Ability to work with children and adults.
Be able to demonstrate skills for the level of lesson you may be teaching on land and in the water.
Accurately maintain all class records and paperwork.
Applicants must be at least 15 years of age.
Current StarGuard lifeguard certification preferred (we provide training if you do not currently have a StarGuard certification).
Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
Self-motivated with the ability to work without supervision.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Required to attend mandatory preseason training, staff meetings and participate in weekly in-service training.
Pools are open 6 - 13 hours per day, seven days per week, including holidays. Schedules vary up to 40 hours per week with weekend and holidays required.

The starting hourly salary for Lifeguards are $15.60.
