Skillforce is seeking skilled Licensed Commercial Plumber for service and maintenance work on university facilities in the Charlottesville, VA area. This is a full-time, field-based opportunity supporting a campus maintenance department with day-to-day plumbing repairs, installations, and preventive maintenance. You will work on occupied school buildings, so safety, professionalism, and communication with staff and students are essential.

Pay and Schedule:

  • Pay: 30 to 35 per hour, depending on experience and license level

  • Employment type: Full-time, long-term assignment (immediate start available)

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm

  • Occasional overtime may be requested based on campus needs.

Licensed Plumber Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems in campus buildings, including domestic water, drain, waste, and vent piping.
  • Perform service and maintenance work on fixtures such as toilets, urinals, sinks, faucets, water fountains, and related trim.
  • Work with copper and PVC (and similar materials) to assemble, cut, thread, join, and install piping for repairs and small projects.
  • Troubleshoot leaks, blockages, and equipment issues, using hand and power tools, snakes, and other standard plumbing service equipment.
  • Support preventive maintenance programs for campus plumbing systems, including regular inspections and minor repairs.
  • Follow all applicable plumbing codes, campus standards, and safety regulations while working in occupied school buildings.
  • Document work performed, parts used, and time on work orders, and communicate status updates with supervisors.

Licensed Plumber Requirements:

  • Active state plumbing license (Journeyman or higher) in good standing.
  • 3+ years of recent experience as a commercial or institutional plumber, ideally with service and maintenance work in occupied facilities.
  • Strong skills working with copper and PVC piping, including cutting, soldering/brazing, gluing, and installing fixtures.
  • Ability to read and follow basic drawings, work orders, and manufacturer instructions for plumbing repairs and installations.
  • Must provide basic hand tools appropriate for a licensed plumber and be able to use standard power tools safely.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the job site and consistent, on-time attendance for a 7:00 am start.
  • Ability to work legally in the United States and pass any job-related background or drug screening consistent with applicable laws.
