As the Lead Engineer – Power Systems you will strengthen and expand power system capability within the Design and Engineering division. The role manages a small team, while delivering advanced power system studies, including steady-state, dynamic analysis, compliance reviews, and technical reporting. This role is available to the successful candidate either Perth or Brisbane based at our corresponding offices.

To be part of the change this role will: 

  • Lead, develop, and manage a team of graduate and entry-level engineers, including performance management, competency development, and training plans.
  • Plan, prioritise, and oversee workload allocations and deliverables, ensuring timelines, resource capacity, and iterative progress are effectively managed.
  • Ensure high-quality, safe, on-budget and on-schedule deliverables, while fostering a culture aligned with our core values of Safety, Transparency, Accountability, Respect, and Sustainability.
  • Conduct advanced power system modelling and design, including GPS compliance studies, model development, cross-platform benchmarking, and detailed simulations across PSS/E, PSCAD, Power Factory, and ETAP.
  • Support project and grid-connection requirements through sizing, validation, tuning, system strength assessments, and technical input for assets in development.
  • Provide technical and commercial support by responding to enquires and proposals and contributing to cost and work planning for tenders and broader submissions.


Skills And Experiences

BE this person

As part of the solution, you will have:

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering
  • Strong industry experience within the energy or consultancy sectors
  • Power system modelling platform experience in PSCAD, PSS/E, Power Factory and / or Python
  • Strong experience in preparing engineering reports and user manuals, including grid code compliance deliverables for GPS and / or microgrid projects.
  • Skilled in frequency-domain stability assessments and evaluating control loops for synchronous and asynchronous generators.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership, and organisational skills, including staff management and administrative capability.
