Introduction

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Testing, preparations and updating of bath analysis, generating procedures and solution control logs. Conducting solution analysis, additions and re-analysis, Trend analysis, Maintain quarantine process.

Duties & Responsibilities

Materials Testing:

  • Converting international Specification to internal procedures, Maintain all relevant records & Test reports.
  • Manage the day to day running of the lab for all periodic process control.
  • To conduct chemical testing of raw materials in order to establish the quality for manufacturing according to customer specifications over and above mentoring of junior production laboratory technicians within Denel Aerospace.
  • Liaises with material technology for testing method and process qualification.
  • Identifies machines to be used in testing and chemical analysis.
  • Checks calibration of machines and adjusts, if necessary, prior to testing.
  • Undertakes verification testing according to manufacturing standards.
  • Identifies latest version on system before commencement of testing.
  • Strictly adheres to shelf life or acceptance testing standards.
  • Provides stores inspection with lay out specifications of raw materials.
  • Provides cutting instructions to assistants for uncured raw materials.
  • Complies with laboratory standard procedures during testing.
  • Prepares and submits test reports to Senior Laboratory personnel for sign off.
  • Timeously conducts tests to prevent halt in manufacturing and treatments of parts.
  • Liaises with surface treatment in relation to treatment baths, heat treatments department and paint shop department.
  • Support other departments with any required make up and standard solution.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Qualifications and Certifications:

  • National diploma in Chemistry (NQF 6)

Ideal:

  • BSC Chemistry (NQF 7 or higher)
  • Driver’s licence. Safety and Quality related training specific to the Chemical laboratory environment.

 

Minimum Experience:

  • 5 years’ Experience in Inorganic Testing Laboratory

 

Training and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Health and Safety Training
  • Software Training
  • Relevant regulatory training
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing procedure and methods
  • Computer literate
