In this position, you will perform structural and aircraft firefighting, fire prevention inspections of Air Force buildings and aircraft, inspections of fire protection systems, and standby fire watches at hazardous operations in buildings and aircraft. You will also stand watch at alarm-receiving equipment and participate in training programs. Your work will involve responding to all emergencies and performing rescue work. Rescue work will include removing personnel from buildings or vehicles, removing canopy enclosures on aircraft, assisting people by carrying or lifting, and administering first aid. Some of your duties will also include operating forcible entry and rescue tools, testing fire extinguishers and hoses, and performing standby watches at public events. Additionally, you will perform alarm room operator duties by receiving telephone calls, radio transmissions, fire alarms, crash alarms, or other emergency calls.
