Position Overview 

 

The Maintenance   Electrician is responsible for troubleshooting and identifying root-cause   issues, repairing or

replacing   parts and rewiring and installing related instrument/electrical goods. The   Electrician ensures that all

work   performed is in compliance with electrical codes and tests and inspects and   repairs issues when they occur. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

1. Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.

2. Place conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.

3. Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps.

4. Assemble, install, test, or   maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.

5. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a   breakdown and correct the problem.

6. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to   ensure compliance with codes.

7. Install ground leads and connect power cables to   equipment, such as motors.

Requirements

     

Job Requirements/Skills

 

1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

2. Have great interpersonal skills such as motivation, positive work attitude, dependability, good at following directions, attention to detail, problem solving, teamwork, and time management.

3. Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges

4. Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.

 

Education/Experience

 

1. High School Diploma or GED, associate's degree, Technical Certifications preferred.

2. 5+ years' experience in industrial environment.

3. Knowledge of 480, 110, 220, 440 and 3 phase electrical systems, able to read electrical schematics.

 

Physical   Requirements

 

1. Ability to work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.

2. Must be able to lift/carry up to 75 lbs.

3. The ability to stand continuously is essential with occasional walking and sitting.

4. Occasionally perform repetitive motion activities such as hand/wrist, forearm/elbow, and shoulder.

Salary Description
$30-$35/hour
