We are seeking an experienced Civil Eng. Technologist to join the Secunda office. The role provides expert technical support in the planning, design, analysis, documentation, and supervision of civil engineering projects. Ensure the efficient execution of engineering activities in compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, client specifications, and operational procedures. Drive the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions from project inception through to close-out.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Execute engineering design, analysis, detailing, and drafting for civil infrastructure projects, including roads, water, sewer, stormwater systems, and basic structural elements.
  • Prepare comprehensive engineering drawings, 3D modelling outputs, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), technical reports, and tender documentation.
  • Conduct site assessments, inspections, surveys, and quality checks to ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications, and standards.
  • Participate in planning, conceptual design, detailed design, specification development, and compilation of construction contract documentation (GCC, NEC, or equivalent).
  • Assist with procurement processes, tender evaluations, and contract administration under the guidance of a Senior Engineer.
  • Ensure strict adherence to engineering codes, municipal by-laws, SANS standards, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a technical liaison within the project team to maintain alignment of engineering deliverables and foster collaboration across disciplines.
  • Support project managers with technical scheduling and planning of engineering tasks to meet internal deadlines and project milestones.
  • Perform quality control reviews of engineering documentation and site works throughout project development and construction phases.
  • Conduct civil and structural inspections and compile professional reports with actionable recommendations.
  • Prepare and submit weekly timesheets, monthly progress reports, and maintain accurate technical documentation and revision control.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric
  • National Diploma or BTech in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Registration with ECSA as a Candidate Engineering Technologist
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in construction/engineering/mining
  • Experience in civil and structural inspections and engineering report writing.
  • Experience in municipal infrastructure, roads, stormwater, water, sewer, or structural elements.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
