Job Summary
Hamilton High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our coaching staff as a Boys Basketball Assistant Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the sport and committed to fostering a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes. This seasonal position will involve working closely with the head coach to develop players' skills, promote teamwork, and uphold the values of our athletic program.
Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily practice sessions, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Support the head coach in developing game strategies and preparing the team for competitions.
- Provide instruction and guidance to student-athletes on individual and team techniques, including offensive and defensive strategies.
- Monitor and evaluate player performance during practices and games, providing constructive feedback to enhance skills and teamwork.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team culture, encouraging sportsmanship and respect among players.
- Assist in organizing and coordinating team events, including games, tournaments, and community outreach activities.
- Communicate effectively with players and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and player progress.
- Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state athletic policies and regulations.
- Attend all practices, games, and team meetings as required.
- Promote the overall mission and values of Hamilton High School athletics.
Requirements
- Previous experience in coaching basketball at the high school level or equivalent experience as a player.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the head coach, other coaching staff, and school personnel.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- First Aid/CPR certification is preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.
- Must pass a background check and adhere to all school district policies regarding student safety and welfare.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during the basketball season.
- A commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
- Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check per School Board policy.
