Athletic Strength and Conditioning Coach (Spring), Salem High School, Salem Public Schools [SY2025-2026]
Duties:
Duties include safety of athletes, writing and supervising workouts for various events, presence at all meets and fundraising. Previous coaching/playing experience required.
Directly responsible to the athletic director and head coaches.
- Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
- Maintain accurate records of squad lists, injury reports, scores of games (report to athletic office and newspapers as requested), incident reports, physical examinations.
- Be available during the school year to lend assistance in guidance and counseling to his/her team.
- Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies as appropriate.
- Oversees the safety conditions of the facility of the area in which the assigned sport is played at all times that students are present.
- Make regular checks of the safety of all equipment.
- Enforce discipline and encourage sportsmanship like behavior at all times. These standards are those set down by the principal and head coach.
- Responsible for enforcing the rules set forth by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association.
- Organize and post a daily schedule for the team and assistant coaches.
- Performs all other duties as the principal may deem to be in the best interest of the sport, pupil and school.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in either high school, college or both is desirable.
- Knowledge of strength and conditioning concepts, and ability to instruct players in all facets of sport.
- Evidence of ability to get along with pupils, parents, colleagues and other citizens.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college preferred.
