The University of Arkansas System is a land-grant higher education network founded in 1871 as the state's first such institution. It enrolls more than 70,000 students and employs over 28,000 people across 22 campuses, divisions and units in Arkansas, with a total budget exceeding $4 billion. Federal appropriations to the system recently topped $105 million.

The system comprises six degree-granting universities, eight community colleges, two law schools, a medical school and various specialised units. Its flagship campus in Fayetteville is ranked by the Carnegie Foundation among the nation's top 2 percent of universities with the highest research activity. The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is the state's premier medical education and research facility.

Work spans medical education and research, law, agriculture, technology, higher education research and workforce development, alongside community college training geared to regional employers. The system's stated purpose is to advance the economic, educational and cultural development of Arkansas through academic, professional and practical programmes, drawing on cooperative strength between its institutions while serving communities statewide.

Employment spans academic, clinical, research, administrative and technical roles across the system's campuses and divisions. Further information is available at https://uasys.edu/.
