Resmed

ResMed develops cloud-connected medical devices and digital health technologies for sleep apnea, COPD and chronic disease care, plus out-of-hospital software platforms.

ResMed, founded in Australia in 1989, develops digital health technologies and cloud-connected medical devices designed to treat chronic disease and keep patients out of hospital. The company works primarily in sleep apnea, COPD and other chronic conditions, and provides software platforms for out-of-hospital care to professionals and caregivers. It employs more than 10,000 people and operates in over 140 countries.

The business runs across three segments. The sleep apnea segment produces cloud-connected CPAP machines, equipment and related digital health technologies. The respiratory care segment covers cloud-connected bilevel devices and ventilators for COPD management. Residential Care Software provides out-of-hospital healthcare management solutions for home and care settings.

Technical work spans connected devices and IoT, sleep medicine and respiratory care technology, healthcare software platforms, and data and cloud connectivity. In the past 12 months the company says its devices, masks, accessories and digital health solutions reached more than 154 million lives. It has stated a goal of reaching 500 million lives by 2030.

ResMed describes its approach as centred on empowering people to live healthier, higher-quality lives, with an emphasis on care in the home or a chosen care setting rather than in hospital.
