OU Health is Oklahoma's only comprehensive academic health system and the state's largest healthcare provider, combining patient care, medical education and research. It serves patients across all 77 Oklahoma counties, with a presence in Oklahoma City, Edmond and Tulsa. The system employs more than 10,000 people, among them 1,300 physicians and 4,000 nurses.

Its clinical scope covers specialised and complex treatments, including care unavailable elsewhere in Oklahoma. Oklahoma Children's Hospital offers the state's most comprehensive paediatric care and hosts Oklahoma's only comprehensive paediatric heart transplant programme. Stephenson Cancer Center is Oklahoma's sole NCI-Designated Cancer Center, one of just 73 nationwide, while the Harold Hamm Diabetes Center conducts work in diabetes care and research. A Level I trauma centre has led the state in trauma care for 30 years.
