Mindrift is a platform that connects experts with clients in the AI space, paying professionals to create high-quality text used to train Generative AI models. Rather than recruiting solely from the software engineering pool, the company draws on specialists from other fields - writers, linguists, educators and finance specialists among them - whose domain knowledge is used to create and improve content so that AI systems become more accurate, useful and trustworthy.

The scale of the operation is considerable. Mindrift reports more than 20,000 AI Trainers on its platform, spanning over 20 languages and more than 90 knowledge domains; some 70% of its experts hold Masters or PhD degrees. Work is organised through flexible projects, allowing experts to apply their professional expertise on a freelance basis. The underlying fields of activity include natural language processing, data generation and crowd technology.

The company is headquartered in Amsterdam, with a presence in the United States, Israel, Switzerland and Serbia. It is backed by parent company Toloka, which has operated since 2014 and has expertise in data generation, crowd technology and machine learning. Mindrift supplies expert-generated training data to leading technology companies building generative AI systems.
