Games For Love is a 501(c)(3) public charity founded in 2018 and headquartered in Bellevue, Washington. It mobilises gaming communities to provide video games, technology and support to children's hospitals worldwide, with the stated aims of easing suffering, saving lives and building sustainable futures for children. The organisation reports having impacted more than 13 million children to date, with a goal of reaching 10m more over the next five years, and works with over 200 partner hospitals, educational institutions and companies across all 50 U.S. states and 11 countries.
Its technical work spans gaming technology, video game delivery, distraction therapy technology, hospital technology support and STEAM education. These capabilities feed into the Program Ecosystem™, a set of six core programmes designed to be delivered in tandem as children grow: hospital visit-based distraction therapy; STEAM education initiatives; scholarships; internships; career development programmes; and ongoing community support. The organisation also states a commitment to lifelong support for the children it serves.
Games For Love operates largely on volunteer labour. More than 1,000 volunteers have contributed over 250,000 hours, working alongside gaming companies, technology providers and individual donors. The charity was founded by Nathan Blair following his own son's medical battle. Charity Navigator gives it a Four-Star Rating and a 99% performance score, ranking it first among children and gaming charities and within the top 1% of all charities it evaluates.
