ESQlabs
ESQlabs applies PBPK, QSP and QST modeling to drug development and risk assessment, and builds software including contributions to the open-source OSP Suite (PK-Sim, MoBi).
ESQlabs is a multidisciplinary scientific consulting and software company that applies physiologically based pharmacokinetics (PBPK), quantitative systems pharmacology (QSP) and quantitative systems toxicology (QST) to complex modelling problems. Its partners span the pharmaceutical and chemical industries and academic research, and are located worldwide. The work covers model-informed drug development, next-generation risk assessment, computational modelling and digital twins.
Alongside its consulting practice, ESQlabs builds software. Its engineers contribute to the open-source OSP Suite, specifically the PBPK tool PK-Sim and the biopharmaceutics and molecular-biology modelling tool MoBi. The company also develops custom modelling platforms and R-based analytical workflows. Through the MPSlabs business unit it develops digital twins for microphysiological systems, intended as responsible alternatives to animal testing.
The team brings together scientists, modelers, data specialists and software engineers, drawing on backgrounds in bioinformatics, data science, mathematics, physics, pharmaceutical sciences and engineering. Training and education form part of its remit. ESQlabs describes flat hierarchies, with staff encouraged to take ownership of projects and to contribute ideas across departmental boundaries.
Stated values include transparency, scientific rigour, reproducibility and clear communication of uncertainty, as well as a commitment to open technology and open-source software.
